KHAC announces monthly dinner

The Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) will host its monthly dinner on Thursday, April 11 beginning at 4 p.m. until the food is gone. Suggested donation is $6.50 and goes toward the center’s no-charge programs. This month’s menu is ham, potato salad, raisin sauce or pineapple, French-style green beans, deviled eggs, dinner rolls, beverage, and dessert. Dessert is provided by Beacon of Hope Hospice. LMNRA Environmental Assessment completed

The National Park Service has completed the Environmental Assessment, required under the National Environmental Policy Act, for a General Management Plan Amendment to address low-water conditions at Lake Mead. A Finding of No Significant Impact was signed March 13, which allows the park to address operational needs to maintain lake access and provide safe and diverse recreational opportunities at lake elevations above 950 feet. Guy gets four years for drug possession

A judge in Kingman has ordered a four-year prison sentence for a Bullhead City woman who possessed a half-ounce of methamphetamine when arrested last June at 1775 Lakeside Drive. Through a plea agreement Lindsay Rae Guy, 29, was convicted of the reduced charge of attempted possession of dangerous drugs. Defense attorney Michael Beane told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert that Guy’s criminal history is connected to her drug addiction. He asked that she be given a minimal prison sentence so she could get counseling. Judge Lambert noted prior felony convictions in a 2009 marijuana case. The Judge chose…

No injuries in Bullhead City blaze

No one was injured in a residential structure fire in Bullhead City. Fire department personnel responded just before 9:00 a.m. on March 28 to the incident in the 1400 block of Plata Drive. “Crews quickly confirmed that all of the occupants had safely evacuated the residence along with their small dogs,” said fire department spokeswoman Lori Viles. “Firefighters were able to  extinguish the blaze quickly but noted heavy smoke damage throughout the home.” After clearing the scene, firefighters returned at 1:00 to extinguish materials as the fire rekindled. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

Drug bust case: First of five sentenced

The first of five defendants charged through an investigation of suspected drug sales from a home in Bullhead City avoided further jail time during his sentencing hearing in Kingman Thursday. Michael Furrow, 35, was placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to perform 60 hours of community work service. Furrow was initially charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia when he and four others were arrested when police executed a search warrant on December 28, 2018 at a home in the 700 block of River Gardens Drive.
