Mom gets ten years for failing to protect child

A judge in Kingman ordered a ten-year prison term last Friday for a Bullhead City woman who failed to protect her young daughter from the man who molested her. Judge Billy Sipe’s sentence for Michelle Torrez, 36, was the maximum possible under terms of a plea agreement convicting her of a reduced charge of attempted child abuse. Torrez was in a relationship with Ciprano Fass, the 33-year-old Bullhead City man who pled guilty to sexual conduct with a minor and to a reduced charge of attempted molestation of her eight-year-old daughter. Lane restrictions on US 93 near State Route 97 set to continue through June

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time because of long-term lane restrictions on US 93 near State Route 97 in Yavapai County. Motorist should slow down and use caution around construction crews and equipment while these restrictions are in place through June: Southbound US 93 will be narrowed to one lane only (right lane closed) between milepost 158 and milepost 160.
