Featured speaker at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s May 31st meeting was John Rodriguez, Paramedic with Western Air Rescue, a division of Arizona DPS (shown right with club president Becky Fawson). Western Air Rescue has been providing rescue services for over 45 years. In addition to responding locally, as directed by DPS, the 3 pilots and 3 paramedics in the Kingman vicinity also respond to Utah, Nevada and California when called upon. The Kingsmen have brought rodeo to Kingman every September for decades, but this year they brought more! This year, the Kingsmen’s Andy Devine Pro Rodeo took place last weekend, June 1 & 2. The festivities kicked off with a Taco-Tuesday party at the Tack Shed Saloon on Tuesday, May 28. Monsoon season officially begins June 15th and continues through September. Storms generally peak between mid-July and mid-August bringing high winds, high temperatures and high moisture resulting in potentially dangerous weather conditions. Surprisingly more deaths occur each year due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm-related hazard. Monsoon storms can also bring high winds that can toss debris around, down trees, damage power lines, and destroy structures like roofs and shelters. The Bullhead City Fire Department would like to remind citizens to prepare and have a plan in place before the monsoon storms arrive.
