About 50 world-class rat rods and custom cars from around North America made a pit stop Wednesday at the Journey Church in Kingman. Their arrival in Kingman was hosted jointly by the Journey Church on Bank Street and Earls’ Hot Rod Shop in Golden Valley. Kingman’s Beale Street Theater just finished auditions and casting for Bye Bye Birdie, and we are in for a treat here in Mohave County!        Bye Bye Birdie is a musical about a dashing young singer named Conrad Birdie, inspired by the iconic Elvis Presley. When he is drafted into the Army, his managers, Albert Peterson, and Rosie Alvarez, come up with the last publicity stunt before Conrad is swept away. The Kingman Community Arbor Day Celebration and Tree-Planting will take place Saturday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m. in Firefighters’ Park (2201 Detroit Ave.) Cerbat Garden club will be presenting awards and prizes to the 27 student poster contest winners, the Mayor will be reading the Arbor Day Proclamation, and Clean City Commission has purchased 6 pecan trees which will be planted in the park under the direction of the Kingman Area Master Gardeners. Saturday, April 13, All Starz Academy hosted Starkydz “Wish Upon A Star” Pageant at White Cliffs Middle School. The pageant is an all-natural beauty pageant for both boys and girls, from infants through age 18. “They compete in formal wear, Disney wear, spokesmodel (they have a speech category), and talents. It’s a good way to encourage poise, presentation and to really promote confidence. Saturday, April 13, Kingman and Lee Williams High Schools hosted their Annual Route 66 Invitational Track meet held at Kingman High School on Bank Street in Kingman. The day was filled with plenty of sunshine, wind and track and field events.
