VFW hosting several events in May

The VFW has two fund raising yard sales each year, the next taking place May 10 and 11, from 8:00 a.m. until Noon, to benefit Veterans Programs. The Fall Yard Sale helps to fund our contributions for the Boulder City, NV State VA Home residents’ Christmas Wish Lists. All of the residents give a list of 3 items they would like to have. Large or small, they try to fulfill their every wish each year. The money also goes toward the Community Christmas food boxes to make certain everyone in their community has a meal over the Christmas season. Festival of the Arts slated for May 11-12

The 41st annual Festival of the Arts will be returning to Metcalfe Park, Kingman. Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local artisans will display their creations including paintings, ceramics, photography, and jewelry. Live musical entertainment will be provided by Leonard Interior, Black Lemon, Casey Frank, Ken Kordes, Monte Neil, and belly dancing throughout the weekend. Also featuring food vendors, and children’s art area. BLM announces infrastructure improvements at Crossroads OHV Area complete

The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office completed the infrastructure improvement project to enhance recreational use at Crossroads Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area. The work included repairing, sealing and striping the parking lot and reconstructing an access road. “We are happy this improvement project is complete and that we were able to enhance recreational access and safer public lands for everyone who enjoys the outdoors in the Lake Havasu area,” said Lake Havasu Acting Field Manager Samantha Carrasco. The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting enhanced traffic and DUI enforcement during the Cinco de Mayo weekend, Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5. National Train Day open house to commence at the Kingman Railroad Museum May 11

The National Train Day Celebration will be held at the Kingman Railroad Museum on 402 E. Andy Devine Ave. The celebration starts on Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is geared to inform the general public about railroad history, the importance of trains, and the role they have played in America. Kingman Middle School students selected for honor music festival

Kingman Middle School is very proud to have nine students and two alternates selected by audition for the 2019 Arizona Music Educators Association’s Northern Arizona Middle School Regional Honor Band. Held on February 23, in Prescott, auditions assessed the technical accuracy of over 400 sixth, seventh & eighth grade musicians through the performance of musical excerpts, memorized scales and sight reading. The honor music festival will feature the region’s most talented band, choir and orchestra middle/junior high school students on Saturday, May 4, at 4:15 p.m. at Page High School in Page, Arizona.
