County procurement earns prestigious award

MOHAVE COUNTY – The National Procurement Institute has presented Mohave County with the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award. Procurement Director Becky O’Brien led a presentation during the Sept. 16 Board of Supervisors meeting. “This is the 14th time that Mohave County has earned this award. The AEP award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that demonstrate excellence by attaining a high application score based on standardized criteria,” O’Brien said. “The application process is rigorous and requires comprehensive documentation in 18 categories.” O’Brien told supervisors that only 11 other organizations in Arizona and a total of 42 counties…

KINGMAN – Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) is offering a free Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults training course on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, 600 E. Beale St. Mental Health First Aid is a free eight-hour course that teaches how to help someone who is developing a mental health issue or experiencing a mental health crisis. Rollover claims life of Kingman man

KINGMAN – A Kingman man died Wednesday following a September 15 traffic accident in Bullhead City. Police department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt identified the man who died of his injuries at University Medical Center in Las Vegas as Jamie Joseph Barr, 35. Fromelt said police responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident at 1:20 a.m. at Highway 68 and McCormick Boulevard. LAKE HAVASU CITY – On Monday, Sept. 16, at approximately 10:10 p.m., several 911 calls were placed about a boat crash near Site 5 on Lake Havasu. Expect traffic delays due to homecoming parade

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Police Department would like to notify residents of expected traffic delays on Friday, September 20 for Mohave High School’s 50th Anniversary Homecoming Parade. The parade will kick-off at 10 a.m. from the corner of Gemstone Avenue and Langford Drive and continue east on Hancock Road to the Mohave High School parking lot, east of Trane Road. The parade is expected to last approximately one hour. Portions of Hancock Road will be blocked off during this time; however, sections on Hancock Road will reopen once the parade passes through.

Cooper convicted in meth dealing case

KINGMAN – A Bullhead City man faces a five- to 10-year prison term following his conviction for possession of dangerous drugs for sale. A Mohave County Superior Court jury returned a guilty verdict Tuesday afternoon in the one-day trial of Christopher Cooper, 48.
