KINGMAN – Kingman resident Marcia M. Peterson donated substantial amount to the Mohave County Sheriff’s K-9 Foundation Nov. 4. During the presentation of the check that occurred at the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office in Kingman, Peterson received a plaque from the K-9 Foundation for her most generous donation that will be used by the K-9 Foundation. BULLHEAD CITY  – Mohave Electric Cooperative members who purchased Operation Cool Shade trees are reminded to leave Saturday morning’s schedule open. Pickup is 7 a.m.-noon, Saturday, at the Justice Complex parking lot across from the Public Works Department on Alona’s Way. “It’s the only time to pick up the trees,” said Steve Bouman, energy management specialist at MEC. Employment Scams: People have received a package in the mail with a check and instructions on a job. The correspondence continued via email regarding their weekly salary and not to be alarmed that the checks would come from an “outsourced” company. The scammer then asks for money for upfront expenses to be sent via wire transfer, which is untraceable. Scams like this typically involve bad checks. Dog rescued from mine shaft dies

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Late Tuesday, Nov. 5, morning, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a geologist working in a remote area north of Lake Havasu City. He indicated he came across a dog that had fallen into a mine shaft, but he could not get to it. It was alive, but not moving. Search and Rescue and Animal Control Officers responded to the mine shaft. The technical rope rescue team entered the shaft and was able to rescue the dog.
