Santa Maria joins University at Albany

University at Albany has welcomed nearly 5,700 new Great Danes to campus for the fall of 2019. Of the new students, some 2,700 freshmen, from 28,000 applicants, make up the Class of 2023. Approximately 1,400 transfer students and 1,550 graduate students are also joining the campus community this fall. The University at Albany welcomes the following students from the area for the fall of 2019: Andrew Santa Maria of Bullhead City is an undergraduate attending the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity studying Informatics.

Library expansion groundbreaking is Monday

KINGMAN – The Board of Supervisors is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the start of the renovation and expansion of the Mohave County Library – Kingman at 3269 North Burbank Street. Dignitaries will make brief remarks during the event scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. next Monday, November 25. Local contractor T.R. Orr is handling the $4.3-million project with completion scheduled in late 2020. The groundbreaking is open to the public.

Underwear Luncheon held

Chloride VFW Aux 2190 held an Underwear Luncheon prior to Veterans Day to collect items needed by Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany where many U.S. injured military are admitted. A luncheon of lasagne, bread, salad, cookies was held and socks and underwear donations were received.

Second suspect sought in BHC homicide

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Police Department (BHCPD) is actively investigating a homicide, where one man was fatally shot and his wife was injured. Detectives are currently looking for Jonathan Arthur Wallace, 27, who is wanted for first degree murder. According to a BHCPD press release, it was reported that suspect Benjie Junior Nunez, 34, and victim Kevin Castro Hurtado, 24, had been involved in an altercation a couple of weeks ago. Nunez had reportedly arranged to meet at the Family Dollar Store parking lot in Bullhead City to physically fight on Sunday, November 17 at approximately 2 a.m….

Nighttime pavement maintenance scheduled on State Route 95 in Lake Havasu City through Wednesday, Nov. 27

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists with travel plans on State Route 95 in Lake Havasu City his month to plan ahead and expect delays of up to 15 minutes for pavement-treatment work. Work is scheduled to occur now through Friday, Nov. 22, and from Sunday, Nov. 24, through Wednesday, Nov. 27. North- and southbound lane closures are scheduled to occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from McCulloch Boulevard South (milepost 177) to McCulloch Boulevard North (milepost 182).
