Jonathan Hegge, 36, was required to make an initial restitution payment of $2,000 and attend his March 15 sentencing hearing in Kingman to earn probation in a benefit theft case. His failure to do so exposes Hegge to as many as 8.5 years in prison to resolve the same criminal matters. Hegge did not show for the hearing and his defense attorneys indicated that they could not explain his absence. Mohave…

A Mohave Valley man arrested following seizure of a cache of weapons and illegal drug making materials will avoid prison if a local judge accepts the plea agreement entered March 12 in Kingman. Mark MacAlpine, 54, pleaded guilty to misconduct involving weapons and manufacturing a narcotic drug. Authorities said 64 weapons and a marijuana wax production operation were confiscated during a Dec. 1, 2018 search of MacAlpine’s Mohave Valley home in the 7800 block of Green Valley Drive.  Prosecutor Rod Albright said MacAlpine’s weapons conviction is related to his prohibited possession of an AR-15 rifle illegally modified with a sawed-off barrel….

Bullard sentenced to six years for shooting assaultive neighbor

A six year prison term has been ordered for a Lake Havasu City man who shot the neighbor who picked a fight with him nearly two years ago. The sentence imposed on March 14 for Andrew Bullard, 32, was on the low end of a 5- to 15-year prison range contemplated by Mohave County Court Commissioner Billy Sipe. A trial jury convicted Bullard of two aggravated assault counts last December but could not reach a verdict on an attempted murder charge that has subsequently been dismissed. Attorneys involved in the case agreed that the shooting victim Dustin Halliday, 41, was…
