A Mohave Valley man arrested following seizure of a cache of weapons and illegal drug making materials will avoid prison if a local judge accepts the plea agreement entered March 12 in Kingman. Mark MacAlpine, 54, pleaded guilty to misconduct involving weapons and manufacturing a narcotic drug.
Authorities said 64 weapons and a marijuana wax production operation were confiscated during a Dec. 1, 2018 search of MacAlpine’s Mohave Valley home in the 7800 block of Green Valley Drive. Prosecutor Rod Albright said MacAlpine’s weapons conviction is related to his prohibited possession of an AR-15 rifle illegally modified with a sawed-off barrel.
Albright said officers found a hot plate, filters and glass jars used to produce marijuana wax within MacAlpine’s home, as well as some of the wax in his freezer.
A number of drug and weapons charges are dismissed in the proposed plea agreement. Terms of the deal require Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert to place MacAlpine on probation if he accepts the agreement at an April 11 sentencing hearing.
Lambert can impose up to a one year jail sentence.
