Inmate death under investigation

KINGMAN – The death of an inmate at the Adult Detention Center in Kingman is under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff’s office. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said a detention officer began CPR after being alerted to an unresponsive inmate around 6:24 a.m. Tuesday. Resuscitation efforts failed and the inmate, Kim Maurice Monahan, 57, was pronounced dead. Mortensen said the medical examiner believes the death to be of natural cause and foul play is not suspected. Monahan was jailed in June and was awaiting trial for aggravated assault charges

Beatte found guilty of child molestation

BULLHEAD CITY – A Mohave County Superior Court jury has returned a guilty verdict in the case of a man charged with fondling a young girl in a Bullhead City motel room 13 years ago. The panel deliberated about 90 minutes on Wednesday, August 7 before convicting Jay Beatte, 44, of one count of child molestation. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Jacob Cote said the victim was the daughter of Beatte’s girlfriend and that the illegal touching occurred in other states before the incident in 2006 when they were living in the motel. Sting nets 10 pounds of meth, heroin

BULLHEAD CITY – A three-month long undercover operation targeting multiple drug traffickers in west Mohave County has resulted in multiple arrests and significant drug seizures. Ten pounds of methamphetamine and more than one pound of heroin was reportedly confiscated when officers searched homes in Bullhead City and the Fort Mohave area on August 8. Mother stabbed to death in Bullhead City

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City man stabbed his mother to death early Sunday, according to authorities. Bullhead City Police Department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said officers responded at 4:15 a.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of Jasper Avenue. “It was reported that Travers Proulx got into an argument with his mother and started stabbing her with a knife,” Fromelt said.  “Proulx’s brother woke up to the sound of his mother screaming and tried to get Travers out of the house.” Fromelt said Proulx, 43, fled on foot after threatening to kill his brother and step-father. Sloan convicted of child’s death

A young woman from West Jordan, Utah faces a possible prison sentence after pleading guilty in a traffic accident that claimed the life of a ten year old girl. Merissa Sloan, 22, will be convicted of causing death by use of a vehicle under terms of the plea deal unveiled Tuesday. Shoplifting call turns into drug bust

BULLHEAD CITY –  Bullhead City woman allegedly possessed dangerous drugs and marijuana when she stole items from a business in the 5200 block of Highway 95. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the store at 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
