Sex offense plea deal unwinds

KINGMAN – Assertions of innocence following the June 21 hearing during which he pleaded guilty in a child abuse case saw the plea deal blow up at a Monday sentencing hearing for Matthew Brown, 24. The Golden Valley man pleaded guilty to two charges reduced to attempted child abuse in an agreement that dismissed charges of aggravated assault and sexual conduct with a minor involving his girlfriend’s 18-month-old son. Brown appeared before Judge Billy Sipe Monday to be given a 5-10-year prison term and extended probation following incarceration. Second homicide suspect arrested

KINGMAN – A second arrest is reported in the murder of a Kingman man whose remains were recovered last December in a remote desert area in Yucca. It wasn’t until July before authorities were able to identify the homicide victim as Jack Parlanti, 50, with the assistance of a crime lab and DNA testing. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports the Aug. 7 arrest of Bryan Keith Gibson, 52, Yucca. Bullhead woman killed in traffic accident

BULLHEAD CITY – On July 28, at about 6:39 pm., the Bullhead City Police Department dispatch center received a report of a truck hauling a trailer that had become disabled on  eastbound Highway 68 between McCormick Boulevard and Davis Dam Road. The report indicated the trailer of the disabled vehicle was partially obstructing a lane of travel. An officer was dispatched to the area and at 6:50 pm, another caller reported that a vehicle had struck the trailer. GEO Group graduates correctional officers

Warden Nick Pastella along with recent graduates of the Correctional Officer Training Academy, Geo Group Kingman Correctional & Rehabilitation Facility.   The recent graduates completed an eight-week course that included academics and physical training.  Following the academy, the graduates were assigned to a two-week on-the-job training program before they were assigned to work correctional posts independently.
