Arizona Governor Doug Ducey yesterday, April 7, issued an Executive Order expanding healthcare reporting requirements on hospitals and health care providers to better track data needed to protect health care workers and patients and help slow the spread of COVID-19. There are now 23 positive COVID-19 cases in Mohave County. The latest is a Kingman service area individual, an adult in the 20-44 age range, who is currently isolated at home. The case is the result of “community spread.” Nurses will begin the contact investigation as soon as possible. As defined by the CDC, community spread means people have been infected with the virus in an area, including some who are not sure how or where they became infected. As part of the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry response to the evolving CDC guidelines regarding face coverings, ADCRR will be distributing fabric face coverings to all employees over the next few days. On Friday, the CDC recommended that essential staff wear non-medical (non-PPE) cloth face coverings to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID19. The face coverings are being made by inmates at Perryville, Douglas, and Florence complexes through the Arizona Correctional Industries (ACI) garment program, which has been in operation for more than 30 years. The largest field of prospective candidates submitted nominating petitions to succeed retiring District 1 supervisor Gary Watson.
