Kingman Fire, Police Departments taking extra safety precautions during COVID-19 pandemic

KINGMAN, Ariz. – The City of Kingman would like to reassure the community that firefighters, police officers, and first responders are taking every step necessary to ensure the safety of those teams and the community they serve. City first responders are being supplied correct personal protective equipment (PPEs) by county and state officials. The city’s supplies for this equipment is at sustainable and appropriate levels of response are being gauged for each call dispatch receives.

The City will reiterate the need for people to practice social distancing and adhere to the CDC Guidelines. The city sincerely appreciates those in our community who have already taken precautionary measures to keep everyone safe.

Kingman Fire Chief Jake Rhoades said, “One of the very first things we did in dispatch, was adjust emergency medical dispatch procedures following CDC guidelines.”

“We turned our immediate attention towards contingency planning and just trying to anticipate every possibility we could. We feel like we’re in good shape, and if we need to adjust levels of service, we’re able to that. At this point, we’re not seeing a need for that,” Kingman Police Chief Bob DeVries said.

“Of course, it’s a growing concern in a community our size that we need to be very cognizant of all those we come in to contact with, which is why it is imperative for people to not be out and about, unless it’s absolutely necessary, and to follow those social-distancing and CDC guidelines,” said Kingman City Manager Ron Foggin.

As of Monday, March 23, 2020, all city buildings (except the Municipal Courthouse, Golf Course, and Parks) will remain closed to all public access until at least April 6, 2020. To protect the health of our City team members and the public, all residents will be required to make requests for services remotely, through mail, email, online platforms, and telephone. City team members will be allowed into the buildings and are expected to work on-site to keep the City of Kingman operating to serve our residents. Dispatch, Fire and Police Services will operate at normal levels.
