Special CRUSHD meeting tonight to determine graduation

BULLHEAD CITY – The Colorado River Union High School District governing board will hold a special meeting tonight, Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. to discuss and possibly vote on graduation plans for the Class of 2000 at the District’s three high schools.  Several options were discussed at Tuesday night’s regular board meeting.  Those included a traditional graduation at CRUHSD’s Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse, a traditional graduation at the Fieldhouse with capacity limits, a virtual graduation and a drive-through graduation on each campus.  Preliminary results of an online SurveyMonkey poll about graduation preferences were also shared.  There will not be a call…

COVID-19 update: Tuesday ends with 260 cases

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of five COVID-19 positive cases in Mohave County. Due to action this week by the Board of Supervisors, the age range reported is now much narrower. Three of the cases are in the Kingman service area. An investigation is pending on two of them. One of those is in the 30-39 year age range and the other is 80-89.  The third Kingman area case is in the 0-18 age range, in isolation, recovering at home, and linked to another confirmed case. MCC giving students 100% of CARES Act funding

Mohave Community College will receive more than $1.9M as part of the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding.  Although the college is only required to distribute half of the money directly to students, the college will give all of it to MCC students. “We feel that distributing this money evenly among as many eligible MCC students as possible will have the most powerful positive impact on them and our communities during this crisis,” said MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein. The college has already distributed $500 and $750 payments to students who met eligibility guidelines set by the federal…

Fire claims mobile home

KINGMAN – More than two dozen firefighters battled windy conditions Monday when fire engulfed a Kingman mobile home. Kingman firefighters responded at 5:25 p.m. to the fire in the area of N. Fourth Street and Windsor Avenue. Assistant Fire Chief Keith Eaton said first arriving fire personnel found a fully involved, vacant mobile home. He said crews mounted an aggressive attack because wind caused the fire to spread to other structures on the property. “KFD Command struck a second alarm activating the Mohave County Mutual Aid pact. LHC offices closed for Memorial Day

City offices are closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.  Police and Fire Department services are unaffected, however administrative offices are closed. All City offices resume normal schedules on Tuesday, May 26. The Aquatic Center and Community Center is closed Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25. Trash and recycling schedules are not interrupted.
