KINGMAN – On Nov. 13, the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with chamber member Business for Water Stewardship, hosted a conversation on groundwater challenges and solutions in Mohave County. Featured panelists included local vineyard owner Micah Spencer, State Senate Majority Leader Sonny Borrelli, and Mohave County Supervisor Travis Lingenfelter. The panel discussed the groundwater supply concerns facing Mohave County and why progress has been slow on this issue. KINGMAN – Western Area Council of Governments (WACOG) is partnering with Regional Center for Border Health (RCBH) for a Focus group to identify challenges / issues people with disabilities and/or their caregivers face as they get older. They are also interested in hearing from advocates and service providers. For example, people who provide I/DD services or professionals who work with I/DD population. The focus group is for individuals at least 18+ years of age. As an incentive we are offering refreshments and a $25 Walmart gift card for each participant. They are accepting only 15 participants. The Focus Group meeting is at the WACOG office,…

The kitchen is the heart of the home especially during Thanksgiving. Entertaining friends and family with lots of other potential distractions are all factors that can contribute to the increased likelihood of home cooking fires. According to the NFPA, Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, with more than three times the daily average for incidents. Unattended cooking was by far the leading contributing factor to these fires. Cooking causes half (53%) of all reported home fires and nearly two of every five (38%) home fire injuries, and it is a leading cause of home fire deaths(18%). The Bullhead City…
