MOHAVE COUNTY – In-person early voters will enjoy brand new voting booths when they mark their ballots in the upcoming Presidential Preference election in Mohave County. Recorder Lydia Durst said 16 of the booths have been purchased from some $32,000 in Help America Vote Act grant funds made available to her office.
Durst said each of the new Franklin four-station voting booths can accommodate up to four voters at once, as opposed to the smaller single voter booths that have been in use for years.
“They are four-in-one stations,” Durst said. “There’s three stations that are to the height of an average voter and then there’s one that is ADA compliant that can fit a wheelchair under- the legs are wider-, or anyone that needs to have a chair, so it can fit four people in one station with one being ADA compliant.”
Durst said the new units will first be used for Presidential Preference election early voting from Feb. 21 through March 15.
“All 16 are here and ready to be deployed next month for early voting,” Durst said. “Our locations are in Bullhead at the Mohave County Bullhead library on Hancock, the Mohave County Lake Havasu library on McCulloch and the Kingman Mohave County library on Burbank. We’re going to keep one in our Kingman office at 700 W. Beale St.”
Durst noted that a variety of useful election related information is posted to the County Recorder and County Elections tabs that can be accessed through the Mohave County government website, mohave.gov. ?“We also have an active Facebook page, Mohave County AZ Voter Registration,” she said.
