LAKE HAVASU CITY – In case you missed out on last week’s quilt event, there will be another one in store for the Lake Havasu community at the Art Quilt Exhibit. The Out of Box Fiber Artists will display an array of unique quilts made by the members of the club.  The group began meeting about two years ago and currently have about thirty members. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College’s student club, the Bullhead City Campus Arts Club, is hosting its 4th Annual Flash Film Festival. The festival is a chance for students, faculty, staff and community members to show off their artistic abilities behind the camera. “This is something anyone can do with the phone in their pocket and let their voice be heard,” said Joe Ketchum, MCC faculty and club advisor. “They can collaborate with friends, and learn new skills and their efforts are at least rewarded with praise at the festival.” The festival encourages participants to create short films in various…

The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to make the community aware of a recent local phone scam that has been reported.    In this phone scam, the caller portrays themselves as a representative of customer service from Lake Havasu City. The caller identification number appears to show up as an official Lake Havasu City phone number (928) 855-2116. During these calls, the scammer attempts to solicit personal information from the people who they are calling. This is a scam. A scam tactic called “spoofing” is used by scammers to make the caller identification appear to be a local number…

Hosted by the Chloride Historical Society and the Special Events Committee this year’s events include an always zany parade down Tennessee Avenue, gunfights, gold panning, vendors, live music, and lots of other family friendly activities. Speaking at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s January 26 meeting was Velizar Iliev, a U.S. Olympian and World Champion. Born in Bulgaria, Iliev won multiple national titles there before moving to the USA and becoming an American citizen. Iliev was a three-time World Champion while in Bulgaria and won the 1999 Pan American Games. He became a volunteer fencing coach at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas,where he coached the Olympian Fencing Club. Ilev and his wife moved to Kingman recently and he will be opening Mohave Fencing Academy to be held at College Park Community Church…
