Gary Engels returns; looking into allegations of voter fraud in Colorado City

A retired investigator who previously worked for the Bullhead City Police Department and Mohave County Attorney’s Office is going back to work to look into allegations of voter fraud in the northern Arizona community of Colorado City. The board of supervisors on Monday approved county attorney Matt Smith’s request for use of up to $8,000 to have Gary Engels conduct the special investigation.    Smith said Engels is especially well-suited to work in the isolated border community of Colorado City where members of a polygamous sect can be uncooperative with outsiders. Snowpack benefits Colorado River operations

A monthly study released by the Bureau of Reclamation indicates this winter’s plentiful snowpack will benefit the Colorado River Basin through increased runoff to crucial reservoirs. That above-average inflow projection is due to extremely wet conditions in the basin during February and March. Releases from…

Romero enters plea agreement; sentencing May 8

A Bullhead City man has entered a plea agreement involving a vicious beating last fall. Luis Romero, 26, accepted the deal April 5 after previously balking during a March 25 change of plea hearing.    Prosecutor Amy Gardner offered a more concise factual basis of the case than was detailed during the March hearing. Gardner told Judge Billy Sipe that the September 21, 2018 assault occurred in the 2000 block of Highway 95.    Gardner said that the victim suffered severe blows to the head when repeatedly struck by Romero. She said blood gushed from the head of the man who was…
