KINGMAN – Site preparation is underway where Sun State Builders of Phoenix will build a new 40,000 square foot office for the State of Arizona on Airway Avenue in Kingman. The project is located on an undeveloped 4.5-acre parcel between Kenneth and Adams Sts. The new building will house about 75 state Department of Economic Security and Department of Child Services employees who currently work out of two offices downtown, one on Pine Street and the other on Beale Street. Former Smoke Shop to get a facelift

The former Smoke Shop that was shut down by federal authorities in a law enforcement operation will get a makeover in downtown Kingman Thursday. Deputy Kingman Police Chief Rusty Cooper said some city staff members and local merchants will repaint the building a sandstone color. Cooper said some feel that the green and orange color scheme rendered the building at 417 Beale Street an eyesore. KINGMAN – A Golden Valley woman who has worked for the Mohave County Attorney’s office for 26 years was recently presented a lifetime achievement award. Robin Traxler was lauded during the Arizona Prosecuting Attorney’s Advisory Council annual conference for administrative professionals on August 23 in Mesa. Traxler began her near four-decade career in support of the criminal justice system in 1980 as a dispatcher for the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. Charity cornhole tourney slated

KINGMAN – Venture Club of Kingman will be hosting their Second Annual Charity Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, October 12. The event will begin at noon at Metcalfe Park, 315 W. Beale St. There will be food, drinks, raffles and much more! It will be a double-elimination tournament with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Teams of two and individuals are welcome. Team registration is $30 and individual registration is $20.
