BULLHEAD CITY – The Saving Animals In Need Together (SAINT) pet-welfare organization recently announced plans to open a low cost spay and neuter center in Bullhead City, thanks to a bequest from Mr. Raymond Hilton. S.A.I.N.T.’s goal is to open the center in late 2020, in the meantime, working to fulfill Mr. Hilton’s legacy by forming a stronger partnership with the Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic in Kingman, until the Bullhead City facility is ready to open. BULLHEAD CITY – A woman and her dog safely evacuated a Saturday fire that spread from a residence in the 800 block of Roadrunner Dr. Bullhead City Fire Department spokeswoman Lori Viles said crews mounted an aggressive attack of the fire just after 4:00 p.m. Viles said spreading flames scorched a detached shed behind the home. “The blaze caused shrubbery along the perimeter chain-link fence to catch fire causing the fire to extend to two separate wooden sheds located in neighboring backyards on Stahlman Dr.,” she said. LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Senior Corps of Mohave County and NAU’s Civic Service Institute is hosting an information event about volunteer opportunities in Lake Havasu City, for adults, age 55+. Area youth ages five through 15 are encouraged to come out to Dunton Fort Rock Ranch on Saturday, August 17 to participate in “Fishing for Smiles”, a free fishing day. The event will be held from 7 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is required and youth must be accompanied by an adult. Bait is provided, and a limited number of fishing gear is available. Kids are encouraged to bring their own rod and reel if they have one. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. County supervisor to retire MOHAVE COUNTY – Only one member of the current Mohave County Board of Supervisors will not pursue re-election next year.
