Mohave Community Orchestra schedules concerts

KINGMAN – Mohave Community Orchestra has announced their 2019 Autumn/Fall two-concert series. The orchestra is comprised of about 35 musicians of all ages, including the youngest, 11-year-old home school student Eliana Allen and the oldest, 85-year-old practicing physician Dale Parry. All of the performances are scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturdays; Oct. 26 and Dec. 7, at the Kingman High School Bulldogs’ Aguilar Auditorium, located at 4182 Bank Street. Celebrate National Public Lands and Fossil Day at Grand Canyon

GRAND CANYON – Grand Canyon National Park invites the public to celebrate the 10th anniversary of National Fossil Day and the 26th anniversary of National Public Lands Day fee-free on Sept. 28.  This year, a special celebration of National Fossil Day featuring the rich paleontological heritage of Grand Canyon is being held here as one of the park’s commemorative centennial events. KINGMAN – The Mohave County Animal Shelter will be at Petsmart in Kingman on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with puppies, dogs, cats, and kittens for adoption. All pets for adoption are spayed or neutered, current on vaccines, and come with a free wellness check from your choice of veterinarian in Kingman. Puppies and dogs also come microchipped. County procurement earns prestigious award

MOHAVE COUNTY – The National Procurement Institute has presented Mohave County with the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award. Procurement Director Becky O’Brien led a presentation during the Sept. 16 Board of Supervisors meeting. “This is the 14th time that Mohave County has earned this award. The AEP award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that demonstrate excellence by attaining a high application score based on standardized criteria,” O’Brien said. “The application process is rigorous and requires comprehensive documentation in 18 categories.” O’Brien told supervisors that only 11 other organizations in Arizona and a total of 42 counties…
