‘Guardian’ installed in downtown Kingman

The proud papa of Kingman’s newest sculpture dubbed “The Guardian” by Jim Rowe (pictured) was delivered in predawn hours last Sunday morning. Roe, a southern California native and Arizona investor has bought numerous properties in old Kingman and was motivated to bring attention to the rehab of the 200 block of Topeka. The Guardian has more than 700 pounds of metal and was created by metal sculptor Martin Gonzalez of Dagget, CA.

U.S. Air Force Airman Nicholas A. Bellhouse graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Bellhouse is the son of Nick and Delaine Bellhouse of Kingman. He is a 2019 graduate of Lee Williams High School.

Merchants set to roll back quarter-cent sales tax

MOHAVE COUNTY – Thousands of merchants throughout Mohave County will be rolling back the Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) at the end of the year. A 20-year quarter-cent sales tax increase approved by the Board of Supervisors (BOS) in 1999 will sunset on December 31 of this year. Financial Services Director Coral Loyd said the quarter-cent sales tax dedicated to capital improvement projects generated $119.2-million in the first 19.5-year period through the end of June. The museum will be hosting a volunteer fair on Friday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at the museum, 400 W.
