‘September at the Bowl’ car show slated

KINGMAN – The Route 66 Cruizers will have ‘September at the Bowl’ car show on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Cerbat Lanes, 3631 Stockton Hill Rd. Auto entry registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. with entry $15 per vehicle. All entrants will receive a coupon for a free soft drink and 15% off the snack bar at Cerbat Lanes. There will be raffles, a 50/50 drawing, a DJ playing all your old favorites, and trophies for best entries. Community orchestra begins rehearsals

BLM seeks public input on abandoned mine remediation project near Kingman

KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Kingman Field Office invites the public to provide input on a Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) remediation project at the abandoned COD Mine and Mill site, located on BLM-managed public land in the Cerbat Mountains north of Kingman, in Mohave County.      The mine opened in 1878 and produced silver, lead, zinc and gold until it permanently closed in 1984. Lead, arsenic and thallium have since been found in tailings, waste rock dumps, surrounding soils and drainage areas, at levels that exceed the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality’s non-residential…

Chophouse makes S&R donation

KINGMAN – On Thursday, Aug. 8, Jesse and Dondi Godinez, owners of the Kingman Chophouse, presented Sheriff Doug Schuster and members of the Search and Rescue- Kingman Unit with a check for $6,900. The money donated was raised during the unit’s annual Taco Dinner fundraiser on July 8. Sheriff Schuster then presented Jesse, Dondi, and staff with a placard of appreciation for their continued support and sponsorship of the Taco Dinner fundraiser.
