BCFD Community Risk Reduction coloring contest winners announced

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Fire Department (BHCFD) recently implemented a Fire Safety coloring contest with the local school district. All fifth and sixth grade students from the Bullhead Middle School and Mohave Accelerated Learning Center (MALC) were encouraged to design a safety picture and message. Each year the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) creates a theme for Fire Prevention Week. The 2019 theme “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!”, giving students a foundation to create their safety messages. Members from the Community Risk Reduction Division collected the entries and selected two winners. Annual Veteran’s Day Parade is Nov. 9

KINGMAN – The Kingman Downtown Merchants’ Association will present their annual Veteran’s Day Parade featuring U.S. Army, Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps on Saturday, Nov. 9 beginning at 10 a.m. in downtown Kingman. The parade will travel from Fifth and Beale Streets to First and Beale Sts. The association is seeking volunteers, entries, and donations. Black Mountain, Kingman Academy schools to produce a Disney Musical at no cost

KINGMAN – Kingman Center For The Arts is pleased to announce the two new schools that have been selected to participate in the 2020 Disney Musicals in Schools program. The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. The two schools are a part of Kingman Unified school district and the Arizona Interscholastic Association. The two schools include: Black Mountain Elementary School in Golden Valley and Kingman Academy Of Learning Intermediate in Kingman. Rancho Santa Fe Interchange update

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman held a design meeting with ADOT staff and AECOM last week, and discussed next steps. Working on securing right of way clearance and working with landowners on a public-private partnership that will address funding for the connector streets and utilities; two key tasks moving forward, and keeping the project on schedule. Tentatively, the design could be completed by May 2020, and ADOT could potentially send the project to bid as early as July 2020. Kino Avenue waterline project update

Willow/Kino intersection opened today KINGMAN – Friday, October 18, the Willow Road/Kino Avenue intersection reopened at 6:00 a.m. The section that is currently closed to Wells Street will remain closed, however. Beginning Monday, October 21, Kino Ave. will be closed from Willow Rd. to Walleck Ranch Drive until October 31. Detours will be in place, but we urge the traveling public to drive slowly through detours, and give themselves extra driving time, while traveling through work zones. Youth Talent Show The Annual Youth Talent Show brought to you by the Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation Department through the generous contribution of Lake Havasu Marina, takes place on Thursday, October 24, at 6:00 p.m. on the Stage under the London Bridge.
