NACFD receives Highway Safety Grant

Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District #1 (NACFD) received $18,763 from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for the purchase of vehicle stabilization equipment that will help NACFD to increase on-scene safety to both victims and emergency responders of motor vehicle accidents. The equipment will enhance emergency medical services enforcement throughout the district.

“The span of responsibilities in today’s fire service span all hazards and the opportunity to utilize grant funding to assist in purchasing of specialized equipment allows the department to remain fiscally prudent and still achieve the desired level of service for our customers regardless of the emergency,” stated NACFD Fire Chief Jake Rhoades. “The purchased equipment will be able to lift and stabilize passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, multiple vehicles, span longer reaches and heavier weights, especially when the vehicles are on their side, on uneven surfaces, and/or unstable terrain. This equipment will also impact the local area by NACFD, making the equipment available to mutual and automatic aid fire departments such as Kingman Fire Department, Hualapai Fire and EMS, and Golden Valley Fire District.”
