MRF to host city council candidates at next meeting
KINGMAN – The public is invited to the Mohave Republican Forum (MRF) meeting on Wednesday, July 10, at 5:30 p.m. with Kingman City Council candidates Jim Dykens, Vice Mayor Cherish Sammeli, and Councilman Keith Walker who have been confirmed they will be speaking. Robert Cathey and Elliott Chalew have also been invited but have not confirmed their being present.

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A reminder Lake Havasu City is holding a Primary Election on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, for the purpose of electing three Councilmembers. Voter registration for the Primary Election closes on July 1, 2024, at midnight. Residents may register, re-register, or change voter information by completing a voter registration application on the Mohave County recorder’s website at www.mohave.gov or online at www.servicearizona.com.
INA designation for Hualapai Basin heading toward finish line
MOHAVE COUNTY – A legal appeal of the designation of a groundwater basin north of Kingman as an Irrigation Non-Expansion Area (INA) is heading toward the finish line in Maricopa County Superior Court. Tucson-based appellant attorney Adriane Hofmeyr’s Reply Brief was filed with the Court on June 21.
Anniversary of Dobbs decision commemorated with movie viewing
KINGMAN – On the eve of the 2nd anniversary of the controversial Supreme Court’s “Dobbs decision” overturning Roe v. Wade, the Mohave County Democrats had a recent gathering to finish collecting signatures and having notaries notarize the Arizona for Abortion Access initiative petitions that circulators have been collecting signatures from Mohave County voters since October of last year. The afternoon also included a showing of the movie “Call Jane.”
Arizona Electric Power Cooperative/Mohave Electric Cooperative postpone meeting to discuss proposed Mohave Valley facility
MOHAVE COUNTY – Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO/MEC) has requested that their applications for an amendment to the Mohave County General Plan be postponed. The issue involves the company’s application going from a Suburban Residential Area land use designation to an Urban Development Area land use designation and a Rezone from an A-R (Agricultural Residential) zone to an M-X (Heavy Manufacturing) zone for a portion of Assessor’s Parcel No. 225-09-052.
