Arizona Dept of Resources designates Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin as INA

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) stands by former Director Tom Buschatzke’s Dec., 2022 designation of the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin as in Irrigation Non-Expansion Area (INA).
Establishment of INA’s generally prohibit additional groundwater use by expanded agriculture production. Buschatzke’s local INA designation that essentially shut off the faucet for new agriculture endeavors is based on assessment that water withdrawals at the time of his decision would deplete the basin over time.

County to host workshops for General Plan

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County is looking for valuable input and comments from county residents on its 2025 General Plan Update. A series of community meetings will be taking place to give residents the opportunity to participate in this important blueprint for the future.

BLM approves lithium exploration project near Wikieup, Arizona

KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management has announced its approval of the Big Sandy Valley Lithium Exploration Project near Wikieup. The BLM’s decision, which incorporates significant input from the public and Tribal Nations, allows Big Sandy, Inc.—a subsidiary of Arizona Lithium Ltd.—to drill and test up to 131 exploration holes across approximately 21 acres of BLM-managed public land to determine whether a full-scale lithium mining operation could be viable.
