No action taken on proposed sheriff’s substation

Proposals to build a new sheriff’s office substation and to put a local television station on the Mohave County-administered television district were discussed, but no formal action was taken on either item during Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman. At this event, they honored and celebrated the wonderful individuals that make the volunteer force, the folks who give their time and commitment out of the goodness of their hearts. Flora selected as CRUHSD Superintendent

BULLHEAD CITY – The Colorado River Union High School District governing board has unanimously chosen Arizona Department of Education (ADE) program specialist Todd Flora as its new superintendent.  The late-night vote Tuesday followed almost four hours of a third round of candidate interviews and discussion. Flora and Kimball, South Dakota, Public Schools superintendent Tim Mayclin were the two finalists.  Both have had multiple interviews with the CRUHSD board, as well as numerous community stakeholder forums, roundtable discussions with community leaders, and campus and community tours over two days. Skeen receives the Commission on Professional Credentialing Fire Marshal designation The Commission of Professional Credentialing (CPC) announced that Bullhead City Fire Department staff Barbie Skeen has successfully completed the process that awards the professional designation of “Fire Marshal” (FM). The CPC met on February 5, to confer the designation. Skeen becomes one of only 153 FMs worldwide. Hindenach resigns; Kingman Chamber seeks new president

The Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) is looking for a new president following the quick exit of Michael Hindenach. Chamber Board Chairman Cherish Sammeli said Hindenach tendered his resignation Monday and that it was effective immediately. Sammeli said she appreciated Hindenach’s service to the chamber, noting his accomplishments included relocating to a downtown office and his fundraising efforts involving the Hollywood & Wine and Kingman Derby activities. Former Judge Weiss appointed as PDO interim administrator

Retirement didn’t last very long for former Mohave County Superior Court Judge Richard Weiss. After hanging up his robe and setting aside his gavel just three months ago, the former Bullhead City resident who currently resides in Kingman begins a new job with Mohave County in Kingman next Monday. County Manager Mike Hendrix confirmed that Weiss will become the interim administrator of the Mohave County Public Defenders Office (PDO), succeeding Alex Bolobonoff.
