KRMC building out HMMC floor for primary family health care

Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) has three multi-million dollar building projects underway all at once. Many are aware that the largest employer in Mohave County is expanding its Emergency Department and its Cardiovascular Center at its main campus, but less visible to the public is a build out campaign at KRMC’s Hualapai Mountain Medical Campus (HMMC).

The 4th floor was left as undeveloped space when HMMC opened in ten years ago. KRMC purchased HMMC in October, 2011 and intended to build new a stand alone medical office building on the property before deciding that developing that space on the top floor of HMMC is a better approach.

“We have the need and this is the cheaper way to do it,” said Brian Turney, Chief Executive Officer for KRMC.

“As we continue to grow to meet community demand, we recognize the need for more physician office space,” said KRMC Chief Operating Officer Ryan Kennedy. He said Kingman contractor T R Orr in April began the effort to develop 21,500 sq. ft. of space that will include offices for KRMC-employed physicians and 32 medical examination rooms.

“I think the plan to start is that we’ll have 8 practitioners and then we’ll be able to grow from there, and we should be able to accommodate as many as 15 practitioners,” Kennedy said. He said they’ll be providing primary family health care.

Kennedy said the HMMC build out is expected to be completed in mid-October.
