BULLHEAD CITY —The City of Bullhead City, in partnership with Mohave County, the Bullhead City Fire Department, Republic Services and Nevada State Recycling, will host a community clean-up and recycling event on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Mohave County and the Bullhead City Fire Department will again operate the household hazardous waste drop-off in the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division parking lot on Alonas Way. At the same time, the City of Bullhead City will host electronic waste recycling and bulky item drop-off in the parking lot of the Bullhead City Council Chambers at 1255 Marina Blvd.
The twice annual event provides residents with an opportunity to properly dispose of hazardous materials, unwanted electronics and large household items that are not accepted through curbside service.
“We’re proud to once again partner with our local agencies to provide a one-stop opportunity for residents to clean out their garages, protect the environment and keep our community beautiful,” said City Manager Toby Cotter. “The expansion of services this year continues our commitment to make responsible disposal easy and accessible.”
Nevada State Recycling will accept electronic waste at the Council Chambers site. Items with a power cord, such as televisions, printers, computers and other electronic equipment, will be collected. Republic Services will accept residential bulky items, including furniture and other oversized household materials. Commercial bulky items will not be accepted. The city will not accept aluminum cans at this year’s event.
Household hazardous waste, including aerosols, automotive fluids, tires, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, fertilizers, paint products, pool chemicals, cleaners, pesticides and other items marked caution, warning, danger, poison, toxic, flammable, combustible or corrosive, will be collected at the MVD site. Commercial and industrial waste, ammunition, explosives and shredding materials will not be accepted.
For the first time, the city will also provide sandbags during the event. Sandbags are limited to five per household to help protect their property during heavy rainfall. Staff will be on hand to assist with filling sandbags.
“This is an important preparedness tool, especially as our region continues to see strong storm systems,” Cotter said. “We are pleased to add this service to help residents protect their homes and properties.”
Participants are encouraged to arrive any time between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. to avoid traffic congestion at the start of the event. The program is open to all Mohave County residents.
