Orozco arrested in connection with Bullhead City shooting incident

BULLHEAD CITY – Two men, brothers age 39 and 45, drove to the Bullhead City Fire Station on Hancock Road with gunshot wounds Sunday evening, May 3. According to a Bullhead City Police Department spokesperson, they men reported they were involved in a shooting in the 1900 block of Colorado Blvd. Both men were treated and transported to a Las Vegas hospital. Upon investigation, shell casing were located at the residence, and multiple bullet holes were observed at the house. Officer-involved shooting under investigation

KINGMAN – Nobody was injured in an officer-involved shooting incident in Kingman late Sunday, May 10. Kingman Police Chief Rusty Cooper said the gunfire occurred about 11:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the Jack In The Box restaurant off Andy Devine Avenue. Cooper said one male suspect was taken into custody. No further details were provided.The Bullhead City police department is conducting an independent review, which is customary in officer-involved shootings.Bullhead City police department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt confirmed the involvement of her agency and said a press release will issue later today.

Umphress faces first-degree murder charge

MOHAVE VALLEY – A hatchet murder is under investigation in Mohave Valley. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 9:11 p.m. Thursday, May 7 to a report of a hatchet assault at a residence in the 1200 block of Vacation Dr. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said Nicholas Umphress, 33, was detained as he approached arriving deputies. Board of Supervisors calls for opening county May 11

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a motion Thursday afternoon, May 7, recommending the county open up according to CDC guidelines on Monday, May 11.  This excludes three separate authorities within the county – the libraries, the courts, and the offices of elected officials, but, it was recommended that all county entities follow through on the same date. MOHAVE COUNTY – Sunday afternoon, May 10, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of five COVID-19 positive cases in Mohave County and a COVID-19 related death.
