KINGMAN – A Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed a man during a lunch hour encounter in Kingman. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responded at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 to a request to assist a neighboring law enforcement agency with a pursuit in north Kingman. “Deputies spotted the involved vehicle and observed the involved male subject walking on Norrie Dr. with a weapon,” Mortensen said. “Verbal commands were issued and a confrontation with the male subject evolved into shots fired by one deputy and the male subject.” Mortensen said the subject was dead at the scene. Emily Christine Anderson of Lake Havasu City was among 3,417 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during a virtual graduation celebration May 9. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science from the College of Arts and Sciences. The May graduates are from 54 countries, 45 states and Puerto Rico, and 250 Nebraska communities. Go Big Grad: A Husker Graduation Celebration featured a “Dream Big” address from John Cook, head coach of Nebraska volleyball, and appearances by special guests. Northern Arizona University (NAU)’s Civic Service Institute, which sponsors Senior Corps Programs throughout most of Arizona, is hosting a statewide virtual event to introduce adults, age 55+, to service opportunities in their local communities and neighborhoods. This virus has devastated our lives with deaths and poverty but has done one thing good, it has united us. Keep up the good work Mohave County and America.
