MEC provides River Fund $35,000 of extra help for members

BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave Electric Cooperative’s board of directors approved $35,000 in additional emergency energy assistance funding for MEC’s Members Helping Members program administered by River Fund, Inc. Tyler Carlson, CEO for MEC said, “At a time when members are needing it most, our board wanted to do more to help our members at this difficult time. The quickest thing we could do was add funding to MEC’s assistance program that Mike Conner and the River Fund already have in place. Mohave County implemented Stage II fire restrictions that began on May 12, 2020, banning all outdoor fires, campfires, and permissible consumer fireworks on private and public lands in the unincorporated areas of the county. The Bullhead City Fire Department has subsequently instituted the Stage II fire burn ban within city limits beginning on this date, May 27, 2020, until a determination of Fire Emergency is rescinded. Bullhead City’s COVID-19 hotpot, the Joshua Springs Senior Living facility, was the focus of much of Thursday’s special Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman. BLM announces recreational improvements at Burro Creek Campground

KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kingman Field Office will begin a four-month restroom renovation project at Burro Creek Campground on June 6, improving facilities that have been in operation since 1991. The project, which is expected to run through October, will update plumbing, including water, septic and vent lines; and will replace most interior fixtures, such as toilets, stall partitions, sinks, water fountains, access doors and vanity mirrors. KINGMAN – The Kingman Softball Association (KSA) is taking registration for the summer city league season. City Recreation Coordinator Ryan Fruhwirth said KSA plans to reduce the number of teams but hopes to provide the same number of games in a season that won’t start until late June or early July. BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Shop with a Cop, a non-profit organization, has partnered with Desert River Kayak for a kayaking day trip on Sunday, June 28.
