Mohave County Library re-opens facilities

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Library District has reopened library facilities to the public. Due to the pandemic, a number of changes have been made for the health and safety of library customers and staff. A trip to the library will temporarily be different than in the past, but the library is still able to connect customers with information and materials. Customers can still pick up holds, use computers, and obtain new materials for check out.  The most significant change for many is that there is no physical browsing of the collection. Kingman teen awarded Taco Bell Foundation scholarship

KINGMAN – A Kingman teenager who just completed her junior year at Lee Williams High School has a nice head start on a college savings fund. Franchise-owning, sister-brother business partners Krystal Burge and Mark Peterson presented Amelia Brackett with a $5,000 scholarship award from the Taco Bell foundation. “The Taco Bell Foundation raises about $20 million a year all across the country,” Peterson said. Governor to disperse COVID funds to Kingman PHOENIX – The Governor’s Office is providing nearly $600 million in coronavirus relief and recovery dollars for local Arizona governments and nonprofits as part of a funding plan announced today by Governor Doug Ducey. Mexican wolf population gets genetic boost with a record 20 captive-born pups cross-fostered into wild packs

The Mexican wolf recovery effort recently got a genetic boost when biologists from the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD), New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF), and Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan (SSP), with extensive logistical support from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), worked together to cross-foster 20 genetically diverse wolf pups from captive facilities across the U.S. into litters of wild wolf packs.   Over a six-week period in April and May, 12 pups were fostered into four different packs in eastern Arizona and eight were fostered into three packs in western New Mexico.
