KINGMAN – Due to an internet and cell outage, the Kingman City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday May 18, was canceled. Agenda items will be postponed to future meetings. At 4:22 p.m. on May 18, units from the Kingman Fire Department (KFD) and Northern Arizona Fire District (NAFD) were dispatched for a powerline down, followed by a call for a brushfire in the same area, and then upgraded to a commercial structure fire. KINGMAN – Patrons have responded slowly since Mohave County began ramping up service following last month’s directive by the board of supervisors to reopen public libraries. Once a month bookmobile service to outlying areas resumed Tuesday in Yucca followed by Wikieup on Thursday and Arizona strip communities on May 25 and 26. “We’ve got our libraries open for browsing,” Library Director Kathy Pennell reported during Monday’s board meeting. “We’ve got computers on the floor for public use. KINGMAN – The men were part of the roughly 40 military veterans, Kingman Veterans Treatment Court staff, their friends and family members spent Saturday afternoon mingling and playing during the treatment court’s annual picnic at Firefighters Memorial Park. Carman and Mestayer were the picnic’s cornhole tournament champions. Judge Singer presides over the treatment court which started in 2015 and is specifically tailored to help veterans with legal issues within the criminal justice system. Multiagency river training held

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Fire Department participated in a multiagency river rescue training Monday morning, May 17, along the Colorado River. The annual training allows surrounding agencies to come together and perform several different river rescue scenarios. The training includes two Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopters used to complete four various rescue operations and or revolutions. Having the opportunity to participate in this type of multiagency training is beneficial to our first responders and the community we serve.
