All around us are the sights and sounds of Christmas. Carols or Christmas classics are being played over the sound systems of department stores. Trees and decorations are displayed as some boast a ‘50% OFF’ sale before Christmas has even arrived. Former U.S. Marine corporal, Vietnam veteran and Golden Valley resident John Hoeft displays the quilt with attendees of the Community Organization of Meadview (COM) after receiving a gift from the Meadview Red, White and Blue Quilters. Many military veterans attended the COM meeting to witness Hoeft receive his quilt and “little prayer pillow” for his three years of military service in the Marines and his tour of duty in Khe Sahn, Vietnam, during TET of 1968. Deborah S. Coffey passed away peacefully at Kingman Regional Medical Center on October 12, 2019. Born May 12, 1953 in Leavenworth, Kansas, Deborah moved with her family to California in 1967. She moved to Kingman in the 1980s and worked at the Golden Nugget in Laughlin, Nev., for over 20 years. Deborah was preceded in death by her father Norman Coffey and her mother Margie Ragsdale. She is survived by her brother John Coffey of Auburn, Calif., and her sister Trinity Demask of Arvada, Colo. Local citizen starts fundraiser for LHC K-9

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Barbara Cross, a Lake Havasu City resident, has organized a fundraiser and is looking for the community’s support to fund a K-9 program for the Lake Havasu City Police Department. These funds will be solely dedicated to the LHCPD’s K-9 program and are used for the purchase of the dog, training and equipment. The initiative was jump started by multiple community members wanting to support the police department by donating money to a K-9 program. Mohave High, alumni choirs to perform tonight

BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave High School’s award-winning choirs will celebrate the holiday season with their last concert of the school year Friday night, December 13 in the Mohave Auditorium.  Tickets are $7 at the door for the 7:00 p.m. performance. Numbers include an eclectic mix of holiday classics such as “We Need a Little Christmas” from Mame, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” from Meet Me in St. Louis, the Austrian Christmas carol “Still, Still, Still” and the humorous “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.” There will also be contemporary Christmas music, according to Mohave’s choir director Cameron Pruett. …
