Two charged in year-old homicide case

KINGMAN – Two Kingman men have been arrested for a near year-old homicide. Benjamin Clark Dann, 24, and Alfred Martin Talavera, 33, are charged with second degree murder. The Mohave County Sheriff’s office said Dann and Talavera had been considered suspects in an ongoing investigation of the death of Kirklin Marcus Roach, 37. The body of the Kingman man who died of blunt force trauma was found in a desert area behind the Kingman Airport on January 14, 2019. Angius takes gun rights fight to Prescott

MOHAVE COUNTY – A Second Amendment Sanctuary declaration in support of constitutionally protected gun rights by Mohave County last November is sending ripples across the state. Approval of a resolution by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors is prompting consideration in other jurisdictions after drawing considerable press attention and publicity. Coffin promoted to sergeant

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has announced the promotion of Dave Coffin to the rank of sergeant. Coffin is recognized as a valuable member of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. He came to MCSO in June, 2018 with 22 years of prior law enforcement experience. After exceeding his duties as a deputy, Coffin was selected for a transfer to the Detective Division in February, 2019. He has demonstrated that his knowledge and experience will help him excel as a supervisor.

Local group raising funds to reduce cat population

BULLHEAD CITY – We Care For Animals, a local trap, neuter, return organization, is raising funds for needed medical equipment to provide ongoing spay and neuter services for community cats. The organization has been working with Midwestern University Veterinarian College to provide free spay and neutering services to colony caregivers via a mobile clinic but unfortunately, the University is not able to bring the mobile clinic to the area any longer due to mechanical issues with their vehicle. Shoup charged with sex offenses

KINGMAN – Allegations that an underage girl was the victim of repeated sex offenses led to the January 3 arrest of a Kingman man. Jody Shoup, 50, was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Center on sexual assault and child molestation charges. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the Department of Child Services (DCS) requested assistance with a sexual abuse case. “DCS claimed they received an alleged report of sexual assault by Shoup on a female juvenile that indicated the abuse had been ongoing for the last four years,” Mortensen said in a news release.
