Be aware of phone scams

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to make the community aware of two recent local scams that have been reported. In one of the scams, the caller indicates that your iCloud account has been compromised. The caller has you access your phone settings to turn certain functions off and on. The caller then asks you to access a specific website from your iPhone. This gives the caller access to your personal device and all of the information on your phone. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking good homes for wild horses and burros during its adoption and sale event planned for January 24-26, at the Marana Heritage Arena in Marana, Ariz. The event will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday through Sunday. Additionally, training demonstrations will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Florence Inmate Training Program, a collaboration between the BLM and the Arizona Department of Corrections, will conduct the demonstrations. Laron sold to OTC

KINGMAN – A Kingman-grown business engaged in highly specialized repair, design and manufacturing activity has been sold to an out-of-state company. Laron Chief Executive Officer Glenn Thoroughman confirms the sale of Laron to the Ohio Transmission Corporation (OTC). Terms of the deal completed on January 14 are confidential. Thoroughman said the management team will remain in place, that the business will still be called “Laron” and that there are no plans for changes in the operation. Mule deer poached

COLORADO CITY – The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking information about the recent poaching of two female (doe) mule deer near Colorado City. The deer were found in Game Management Unit 13A, north of Mohave County Highway 237 (Cane Beds Road) in the Cottonwood Canyon area.
