Dear Editor, A huge thank you shout out from Dig It! Last week, Cub Scout Pack 66 and Girl Scout Troop 7478 came together to help move fertilizer for the community garden. The Finney family coordinated the efforts. The manure came from the Alpaca of the Southwest in Kingman.   Many thanks to the Scouts, Finney family and to Ron at the Alpaca Farm for this generous gift to keep our gardens growing! Reward offered for information on deputy assault

FT. MOHAVE – On Sunday, June 21, at approximately 11:56 p.m., a deputy with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near S. Calle Ranchita and E. Camino Viejo in Fort Mohave. An occupant of the involved vehicle opened fire on the deputy, striking the deputy’s vehicle multiple times. The vehicle fled after the shooting occurred and has not been located as of this time. The deputy was not injured during the shooting. Meth powder decorates interstate; driver enters plea

KINGMAN – The driver of a moving vehicle from which pounds of methamphetamine were tossed onto Interstate 40 during a police chase entered a plea agreement Monday. Guadalupe Astorga, 44, Tulare, California is being convicted of transportation of dangerous drugs for sale. Terms of the deal require Mohave County Superior Court Judge Doug Camacho to order a five-year prison term when Astorga is sentenced on July 20. Authorities allege Astorga kept driving when a Mohave County Sheriff’s deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop for a suspected lane change violation about two miles east of Kingman. Sanitation rates may be going up for commercial, residential users in Kingman

KINGMAN – Kingman sanitation service rates could be going up early next year for some customers. Yet to be scheduled public hearings could see the Municipal Utilities Commission considering increasing solid waste program rate hikes in August that Finance Director Tina Moline said could be implemented in January or February. A year-long study of Kingman’s solid waste program was the focus of 75 minutes of presentation and discussion during the May 19 city council meeting. Council directed its consultants and staff to move forward with activity and a public hearing schedule that could result in rate increases in early 2021….
