COVID-19 update: One death in Kingman today; 19 new cases

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late this afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 19 positive COVID-19 cases and one death in the Kingman area. Thirteen of the cases are in the Kingman service area; three are in the Lake Havasu City service area and three are in the North County (smaller communities).  The one death is of a 55-65 age range person, who is a previously identified case and is linked to a confirmed case. Two motorcycle crashes in Kingman

KINGMAN – On Monday, May 11th at approximately 1:05 p.m., Kingman Police Department (KPD) responded to a serious injury crash involving a passenger car which struck two motorcycles, at I-40 and E. Andy Devine Ave. One of the motorcyclists is 63, of Kingman, who received serious injuries to his hip and leg was admitted to Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC), and the second motorcyclist is 62 of Peoria, IL, who received minor abrasions and was treated and released from the KRMC. Bullhead K-8 schools outline grading process during campus closure

BULLHEAD CITY – As the spring 2020 semester winds down later this month, officials from the Bullhead City Elementary School District are reminding parents that student grades are continuing despite the closure of campuses by State executive order.  Classes switched from traditional classrooms to distance learning, both online and via printed packets, in March.                 Semester grades will be determined by grade level at the elementary, middle and junior high schools in the district, according to Superintendent Carolyn Stewart.                 For students at Desert Valley, Diamondback and Sunrise Schools, overall second semester grades for students in kindergarten through fourth grades…

Deceased Topock man identified

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are continuing their investigation of a homicide that occurred in the 13000 block of Cove Parkway in Topock on Sunday (5/10). The victim in this case has been identified as Jeffrey Joseph Dufour, 50 of Topock. Dufour was located deceased in the driveway of the property withmultiple gunshot wounds. Jennifer Dawn Priole was arrested and transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility and charged with 2nd Degree Murder. This investigation is ongoing.

A Phoenix man with deep roots in Kingman and northwest Arizona is a contender for the position of Mohave County Manager. Sam Elters is one of four applicants for the job being interviewed by a screening panel.   Elters was a Mohave County public works employee long ago when was hired by the Arizona Department of Transportation. Officer-involved shooting was fatal

KINGMAN – A Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed a man during a lunch hour encounter in Kingman. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responded at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 to a request to assist a neighboring law enforcement agency with a pursuit in north Kingman. “Deputies spotted the involved vehicle and observed the involved male subject walking on Norrie Dr. with a weapon,” Mortensen said. “Verbal commands were issued and a confrontation with the male subject evolved into shots fired by one deputy and the male subject.” Mortensen said the subject was dead at the scene.
