LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City police officer on routine patrol thought it suspicious that a vehicle was parked at an orthopedic office on Riviera Boulevard at 3:18 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. A police report said the officer determined that the Ford Focus was still running while a male was passed out in the driver’s seat.
The man was unresponsive to aggressive knocking, shouting and the running of a flashlight beam into the interior and over his face. Alcohol and drugs in the vehicle were reportedly in plain view and the subject clutched a firearm in his lap.
The police report said the driver identified as Alexander Alvarado, 28, was visibly impaired when he woke up, exited the vehicle and dropped the weapon. Alvarado admitted he had consumed a drink and ingested cocaine, according to the police report.
Almost 15 grams of the drug were confiscated, along with the firearm. Alvarado was arrested and jailed for drug charges and a weapon offense.
