KINGMAN, Ariz. – A fight that escalated to a shooting in Kingman results in a one-year jail term for the defendant. Jermaine Boothe, 43, was sentenced Oct. 23 by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Megan McCoy.
Boothe is convicted of aggravated assault for shooting and wounding a Golden Valley man during an April 24 altercation in the Smith’s Food and Drug parking lot on Stockton Hill Road. Kingman police said Boothe and the 51-year-old victim agreed to meet at the business to fight before Boothe pulled a weapon and fired multiple rounds.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to both arms. He told the court that one of his hands is permanently disabled and that he thinks Boothe deserves more time behind bars.
“You can’t bring a gun to a fistfight,” the judge told the defendant who already served a little more than six months in jail. He’ll remain jailed until next April and will be on supervised probation for five years once released.
The court also ordered Boothe to perform 120 hours of community work service, as a condition of probation.
