Fairground transition approved, consultant tabled

KINGMAN – A plan transitioning the 72-acre Fairgrounds campus operation in Kingman to Mohave County control was approved during Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Public Works Director Steve Latoski told the Board that the county will post three new staff positions to support county operation of facilities currently managed by a Fair Association in a lease that will not be renewed at the end of the year. Body recovered of woman who drown in Colorado river

TOPOCK ­– The body of a second Valley Center, California resident has been recovered from the Colorado River, in the area of Topock Gorge, about 15 miles north of Lake Havasu. Mohave County sheriff’s office personnel responded early Thursday afternoon after dispatch was notified that a female subject had been located.   Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the apparent drowning victim has been identified as Suzan Weaver, 68. KINGMAN – A proposal to split the Northern Arizona Fire District (NAFD) was snuffed at Monday’s Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting.
