Body recovered of woman who drown in Colorado river

California woman who drown was recovered.

TOPOCK – The body of a second Valley Center, California resident has been recovered from the Colorado River, in the area of Topock Gorge, about 15 miles north of Lake Havasu. Mohave County sheriff’s office personnel responded early Thursday afternoon after dispatch was notified that a female subject had been located.

Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the apparent drowning victim has been identified as Suzan Weaver, 68. Weaver reportedly entered the river to retrieve an item that fell from a boat she occupied on Oct. 14.

Mortensen said James Weaver, 75, lost consciousness after jumping from the boat into the water to assist the woman. Other boaters rescued Mr. Weaver who died following hospital transport.
