Response to Lloyd Dickson’s letter of Dec. 15

Dear Editor, Hey Lloyd, once again you addressed my comments with typical liberal rhetoric instead of addressing my issues. And, just like your friends in the liberal media, you interpret my responses and then regurgitate them to support your myopic view of conservatives. I never said or indicated in any way that “well-offs” shouldn’t pay their fair share. I said (in essence) that anyone who thought that only the “well-off’s” are going to get stuck with the bill needs to renew their subscription to “Fairies Live Among Us” magazine. Regarding the Patriot Act, if there’s a provision contained within it…

Gift ideas for Christmas

Dear Editor, This Christmas give somebody the gift of mercy and forgiveness. Be broad with your giving and be generous. We all need a lot of both. For such a joyful holiday of cheer, giving, and yuletide merriment, there is much to be stressed about.  Typically, people have been stressed about all the holiday parties, gatherings, and Christmas scheduling. This year there is more stress related to sickness, masks, vaccinations, Omicron, natural disasters, filled hospitals, massive numbers of funerals, and inflation. We are not in a water crisis, and may never be

Dear Editor, Two recent trends have become evident around Kingman; one is the increase in population and the other is farming in the Hualapai Valley. Both should be cause for celebration, because others are discovering the livability and quality of life that has long been evident to locals. But the growth has created a sense of urgency among elected and appointed officials. Kingman draws its water from two deep underground basins, the Hualapai Basin, and the Sacramento Basin. Growth impacting our most valuable resource may be leading to a premature pressure to do something about our perceived water scarcity.Representative Regina Cobb…

They wear what could feed the hungry

Dear Editor, My extended family seems to be feeling the pinch this holiday season. They have all voted to scotch the expensive gift-giving this Christmas, and just give each other time. Tell that to 1% America though. They have had a banner couple of years. A couple of notable indicators of their successes can be ascertained from public reports of big city gala events and advertisements in very selective media. Two of these caught my eye in recent months. At this year’s Met Gala in New York in September, philanthropists, designers and celebrities showed off their popularity and quite excessive…
