The Great Resignation and the hourly wage

Dear Editor, A young adult lady in Johnson County, Kentucky was recently faithfully working her convenient store register job. She had a line of patrons buying drinks and paying for gasoline. Someone asked her how much money she made. “Nine dollars an hour,” she said. “I’ve worked here over two years and the pay has been $9 an hour. I’ve asked for a raise. I work hard. I’m here almost all the time. A manager from the chain of stores always says, ‘We are looking into it.’ I have to find another job because I can’t take care of myself…

One night can leave you in severe pain!

Dear Editor, I am a 79 year old retired firefighter. I worked for L.A. County Fire Dept. for 31 years. I had numerous injuries throughout my career. Since late February, I hurt my left hip and now need a hip replacement, but in the meantime, old fire injuries surfaced: an MRI on my right shoulder and torn left knee. The shoulder is bad, but at my age, I choose not to rebuild it. In September, I had outpatient surgery on the knee. Then a surgery date for the hip was set for Dec. 6; less than a week later, it…

Develop a plan for 2022

Dear Editor, Proverbs 29: 18 says, “Where there is no vision the people perish.” Everyone needs a strategy. You may be 25 or 85 years in age. Who cares? Probably the only one who cares about your age is you. Your age either tells you that you are too young or too old. Remember, age is only a number. We have to put numbers aside and go with our hearts. If God is in it then don’t worry about the number. What do you want to do? One of the ways to know the will of God is to determine…
