Rain Can’t Dampen Kingman’s Halloween Spirit

KINGMAN – Threatening skies turned into steady rain Halloween night, but Kingmanite families proved a little bad weather wasn’t enough to wash away the holiday spirit.

Throughout Kingman and Golden Valley, community organizations, churches and businesses adapted to changing conditions while providing safe and festive celebrations for hundreds of children and their families.

The evening began at the Elks Lodge 468 Trunk or Treat event in Kingman, where participants scrambled to complete costume preparations before the clouds opened up. While the rain forced many to seek shelter, several decorated vehicles and volunteers remained in place under the lodge’s expansive entrance canopy, greeting young trick-or-treaters who arrived despite the weather.

Some events benefitted from planning ahead. The Kingman Railroad Museum hosted its sixth annual Ghostbusters Halloween celebration a week before Halloween, avoiding the storm entirely. Museum volunteers reported a record turnout as visitors enjoyed robotics demonstrations, Ghostbusters-themed activities and the facility’s three model railroad layouts.

The museum’s recently remodeled HO-scale layout now features miniature Route 66 landmarks stretching from Seligman through Hackberry and Kingman to Oatman.

The Community Federal Credit Union held its Halloween festivities earlier in the day while skies remained mostly clear. Families enjoyed jump houses, games and, of course, plenty of candy distributed throughout the event.

While rain soaked much of Kingman, Golden Valley escaped the downpour. Families gathered at the Golden Valley Community Mall, where a popular haunted hallway attraction drew steady crowds. Organizers reported strong attendance throughout the evening as children and parents enjoyed a variety of Halloween-themed activities.

Journey Church also avoided major disruptions after Youth Pastor Dan made the decision earlier in the week to move the church’s traditionally outdoor event inside the recently completed sanctuary. The change proved worthwhile even as rain soaked, long lines of families stretched around the property waiting to enter. Once inside, trick-or-treaters visited dozens of candy stations arranged throughout the building while volunteers handed out hundreds of pounds of treats.

As children celebrated Halloween across the community, local restaurants and businesses also joined the fun, with costumed adults continuing the festivities well into the evening.

Despite wet conditions in Kingman and dry skies in Golden Valley, Halloween 2026 demonstrated that a little rain was no match for community spirit.
