Havasu man charged hit-and-run involving two children

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – A Lake Havasu City man faces prosecution for driving on after the vehicle he was operating struck two children who were riding skateboards late Sunday afternoon, on Nov. 1. Police Sergeant Kyle Ridgway said the 9- and 10-year-old victims were hit at 5:02 p.m. on South Rainbow Ave.

Officers located two juvenile females suffering from significant injuries,” Ridgway said. “One juvenile sustained a fractured pelvis, along with multiple abrasions and contusions. The second juvenile suffered a fractured foot and multiple abrasions and contusions.”

The victims were stabilized and transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Ridgway said a short time after the incident, officers located the involved vehicle and arrested 64-year-old Steven Cosby for leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. He said impairment does not appear to be a factor, but that speed is believed to have contributed to the crash given the weather and roadway conditions at the time of the incident.
