Boaters safety evacuated from blaze

LAKE HAVASU CITY – On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Division of Boating Safety responded to a reported boat fire in the middle of the North Basin on Lake Havasu. According to an MCSO spokesperson, the three boat occupants had made it onto other boats that were in the area, and were not injured. Deputies, utilizing their patrol boat outboard motors, were able to extinguish the fire. The boat was salvaged by a local tow company. LAKE HAVASU CITY – On Saturday, February 8, McCulloch Boulevard is closed for the Annual Winterfest Street Festival, from Acoma Boulevard to Smoketree Avenue, beginning at 2:30 a.m., and reopens at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9. The hours of the Winterfest event are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8 and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9. Two injured in head-on collision

KINGMAN – A driver was taken to a medical facility following a head-on collision on Saturday, Feb. 1. The accident occurred in the area of Jagerson Ave. and Van Nuys Rd. According to a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, a white Dodge truck with a box trailer and an older model Ford truck blocked both lanes of traffic and both vehicles sustained heavy damage. Murder-suicide traffic stop

KINGMAN – State police said a local resident committed a murder-suicide following a Sunday traffic stop in Kingman. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the older model pickup truck was pulled over at 1:49 p.m. A news release said during the course of the traffic stop the trooper learned the driver and passenger had felony warrants with nationwide extradition pending for illegal drugs out of Colorado. “When the trooper returned to the pickup, the driver displayed a handgun and shot the female passenger,” the release said. “As a result of the driver’s actions, the trooper drew and fired…
