Two injured in head-on collision

KINGMAN – A driver was taken to a medical facility following a head-on collision on Saturday, Feb. 1. The accident occurred in the area of Jagerson Ave. and Van Nuys Rd. According to a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, a white Dodge truck with a box trailer and an older model Ford truck blocked both lanes of traffic and both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The cab of the Ford truck had been crushed inwards, pinning the driver inside.

Medical personnel were able to extract the driver, who was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center, and later flown to a Las Vegas hospital with severe injuries. The driver of the Dodge truck was treated on scene for minor injuries.

The investigation revealed that the two vehicles had been travelling towards each other in opposite directions when the Ford entered into the opposite lane of travel. The Dodge truck attempted to turn to the right to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful.

Both operators were wearing seatbelts at the time of impact. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
