MOHAVE COUNTY – A pair of powerful elected officials had some intense exchanges during the budget workshop Mohave County Supervisors conducted on Thursday, March 14. The sharpness of the banter between Supervisor Hildy Angius and Presiding Judge Charles Gurtler caught others by surprise. I, for one, appreciate The Standard’s policy of printing letters from readers who want to express their opinions on varying subjects. It is also wise to include your disclaimer that views are not necessarily those of The Standard. That said, I found Sen. Allen’s letter from the May 6 edition amusing and quite questionable when she writes, “I am also concerned with the low-income students who are attending our state’s private schools.” I wonder how many low-income families can afford private learning institutions for their children.
